The Day of the Girl is not only a day that says, “Yeah, girls are great”. I really think the Day of the Girl is the struggle, the pain and the obstacles that girls go through everyday in poor countries and how they fought. We have access to good education but in other continents such as Africa, some girls live in poverty and parents can not pay for them to go to school . Therefore, they have one choice in life so they have to get married at a young age and have kids. they don’t make the decision on this. that is why the day of the Girl is so important. Yet we still have our dignity, self-control, strength and abilities to still accomplish something in such hard times."

Assetou C., middle schooler

"Day of the GIrl is important to me because it is a chance to educate everyone on the importance of equality for both girls and boys."

Maria V., Age 15, Sophomore

"The issue that has kept me nerve-wrecked for so long is the fact that every time I go to Pakistan to the area where my family is from, I have to cover my face all the way just so the men don’t look at me or not attracted to me. This is really annoying and just makes me mad because why should we girls cover our faces while the men just get to do whatever they want? I think this is wrong and should be stopped because girls are not toys but humans, and they deserve to be respected and not stared at."
