Our free 10.11.12 Proclamation Project Toolkit  was used by over 70 organizations and countless individuals across America. We’re thrilled by the interest in using a proclamation drafted by girls as a strategy to talk about critical gender equality issues to people in power.

We know girls in dozens of cities participated in our Proclamation Project. Below is a partial list of those cities. Thank you to everyone who let us know of their leadership in pursuing city, county, or state proclamations!

10.11.12 Events

Here is just a sampling of celebrations for the first Day of the Girl, which happened across the U.S. – in homes, community centers, schools, city councils, and conferences! A glimpse of events from all over the world are posted on our partner website, the Day of the Girl Virtual Summit!

  • The Day of the Girl Virtual Summit attracted people of all ages from all over the world!
  • Roundtable discussions about the girls’ dropout rate in the U.S. and the lack of educational opportunities girls face globally included the first female school superintendent, CEOs and other community leaders at Wake Young Women’s Leadership Academy in Raleigh, NC.
  • Film screenings of Miss Representation are occurred across America, in Australia, and in many other faraway places.
  • 10×10 events for Girl Rising, a forthcoming feature film on 10 girls in 10 countries, happened in more than 100 schools and community-based organizations in the U.S.
